Welcome to Lloyd Harbor

Prestigious, scenic community on Long Island’s North Shore

Lloyd Harbor is an incorporated suburb village in the town of Huntington, located on Long Island’s North Shore. The village, which traces its history to the Matinecock tribe, is widely known as a very affluent community. These were the first Americans who inhabited Long Island before the arrival of European settlers in 1654. In 1926, the village was named Lloyd Harbor after an early settler, James Lloyd.

With a population of 3,663, Lloyd Harbor is one of the best places in New York, comprising peaceful and private homes. In addition, most homes are built on two-acre or more property sizes, giving the neighborhood a rural feel since most residents own their homes.

Local Lifestyle

Lloyd Harbor remains one of the wealthiest neighborhoods on Long Island, with most residents being homeowners (a few house units are available for rent). Besides being a large, sparsely populated village, Lloyd Harbor blends Colonial Manor homes and Gold Coast estates in a small rural residential community.

The village is also rich in history; its residents preserve the community’s natural beauty and quiet privacy. The low housing density, proximity to the beach, recently developed streets, and suburban feel, rustic dead-end roads make Lloyd Harbor the perfect place to live.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Despite Lloyd Harbor being a sparsely populated private residential area, it has a lot to offer, from beautiful beaches to historic parks. Enjoy your day at Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve, located on a scenic peninsula stretching into Long Island Sound. The park is a perfect destination for a weekend getaway in New York City and features miles of pathways for running, biking, hiking, and walking. You can also fish and engage in scuba diving while at the park.

Lloyd Harbor Village Park, which includes Lloyd Harbor Beach, is another ideal location for bathing, boating, and playing tennis with friends and family. Lloyd Beach has gorgeous sunsets, and its leading activities include sunbathing, tennis, and playing in the sand.

Things to Do

Although Lloyd Harbor may not be a popular neighborhood like most cities, it is a small, beautiful upcoming tourist destination with hidden places to explore and myriad things to do. Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge, located east of the village, is an exceptional place in Lloyd Harbor. This wildlife refuge has nature trails, multiple migratory birds and sea life, and a rocky beach.

You can also head to Van Wyck-Lefferts Tide Mill to learn its history and tour the Tide Mill, built about 1793. It is a three-and-half-story, gable-roofed, and timber-framed rectangular building that includes an earthen mill dam with sluice gates. Visit the Tide Mill between May and October to enjoy free boat tours of this historical landmark.

Lloyd Harbor features a paid children’s summer camp for residents where families can enjoy a wide range of adventures, including learning new skills, making lifelong friends, and enjoying playtime. Lloyd Harbor is also close to New York City, where you can commute from the village to the city within one hour. Since New York City offers endless dining, entertainment, and shopping options, commuting to the city can be a great way to explore various shopping centers, local restaurants, and outdoor activities near Lloyd Harbor.
