Syosset is a hamlet and census-designated place in the northeastern section of the town of Oyster Bay, close to the North Shore of Long Island. The community was called Little East Woods by the first settlers in 1648 before it was renamed Syosset. Famous for being an affluent neighborhood, Syosset is a peaceful, majestic downtown shopping area with beautiful homes built on well-kept properties.

The north side of the community features older homes and is a heavily treed area as it was settled earlier, while the southern half tends to comprise newer and more luxurious houses. The center includes a busy commercial district along Jackson Avenue and a wide range of mom-and-pop shops, from salons to coffee shops and restaurants.
